Like it very much. You guys have a real gem with Istvan.

Speaking of radar views and UI… One thing I’d like to see but apparently hasn’t been mentioned yet (cept by me) is an ingame sector map, just like Tie Fighter had in 1994. When you hit spacebar you get a realtime gridded plane view, and each ship had icons, headings, and velocities. If it was "high" enough off the flat plane, a line led up to it for easy viewing. Homeworld did something slightly similar.

I figure if it could be done in 1994, how hard could it be?

What makes Jumpgate great?

You are very correct! We do have a gem in Istvan. He rocks hard.

Also, that’s a great question Liet and I’ll see if I can’t find out for you.

Thanks.

interesting read indeed, i looove ths Dev Journals.

i love being able to customize my interface, one of those games i’ve played that allows a lot of customization is WoW ( ^_^ ). while the default UI is simple enough and easy to understand it just doesnt show enough imformation specially ‘end-game’ so the community has created thousands of mods that can just be installed and managed easily.

i really hope JGE turns out that way as well.

ps. cant wait to see at least a concept of what you guys are planning for the ship UI.please awen? just draw it yourself lol

Something I’d like to see is the ability to customize the colored ‘blips’ on the radar. So a player can choose what color he wants squad mates, enemies, or whatever other catagories of objects that appear on radar, to show up as.

Liet, Allegiance also had a a 3D sector map that was really cool. I forgot about that and would be awesome in JGE as well. I guess you could call it a tactical view

I also like the idea of being able to costumize your UI. I also support what Liet said, because seeing the distances and velocities of all ships in that sector at one point is very helpful in some cases.

And btw, will costumized HUDs be able?

Interesting read – and customization (e.g ability to use mods lala WoW)of the UI seems fairly standard in other MMOs in general now.

Me likes a lot. Customization and free choices are excellent.

Poor UI has made me quit more games than all other reasons combined.

I also agree with Liet’s suggestion. Sector Map/Tactical View should be fairly easy to implement and would make everything a lot better
